Job Description
As a SAP Basis and BTP Engineer for a Randstad client in the D.C. area, you will be the technical backbone supporting the client's critical hybrid SAP landscape, encompassing both traditional on-premise systems and the modern SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This pivotal role requires an expert capable of managing the entire SAP technical stack from installation, configuration, and performance tuning of core SAP systems across diverse OS and DB platforms (Linux, Unix, Windows, HANA, Oracle, SQL Server), to strategically administering cloud connectivity, global accounts, and critical services within the BTP environment, ensuring maximum system availability, security, and integration with third-party applications.
Key Responsibilities ???
SAP System Administration: Execute end-to-end management of SAP environments, including installation, configuration, client copies, system refreshes, and establishing new development, quality assurance (QA), and production landscapes.
System Maintenance & Upgrades: Plan and implement comprehensive system upgrades, Support Packages, Patches, and Kernel upgrades to maintain system security, compliance, and optimal performance.
Transport Management (TMS): Oversee and manage the complete Transport Management System process, ensuring controlled and successful deployment of changes across all SAP environments.
Performance and Optimization: Proactively monitor and conduct performance tuning activities at the application, database, and OS levels to continuously enhance system efficiency and end-user experience.
Database & OS Management: Provide expert administration and troubleshooting across multiple operating systems (Linux, Unix, Windows) and databases (SAP HANA, Oracle, SQL Server) that underpin the SAP applications.
Backup & Recovery: Design, implement, and manage robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and minimize data loss risk.
Integration & Connectivity: Configure and maintain all necessary integration points, including setting up and managing RFC connections between SAP and other internal/external systems.
SAP BTP Administration: Serve as the platform administrator for BTP, establishing and governing global accounts and subaccounts, provisioning runtime environments, configuring essential services (e.g., SAP Integration Suite), and managing on-premise connectivity via the SAP Cloud Connector.
Collaboration & Support: Work closely with project teams on cutover tasks for QA and Production environments, provide advanced Tier 3 support, and cross-train Tier 2 SAP teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills :
Technical Expertise: Proven experience in SAP Basis system administration for complex, enterprise-level SAP landscapes.
Platform Acumen: Deep proficiency in administering modern SAP environments, specifically including SAP HANA and the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
Database/OS Skills: Strong working knowledge of major operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows) and database platforms (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server).
Project Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage system refreshes, upgrades, patching cycles, and TMS in a regulated environment.
Problem-Solving:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex system, database, and performance issues.
Communication & Documentation: Effective verbal and written communication skills for documentation, stakeholder updates, and cross-functional team collaboration.
Soft Skills: Must be a proactive team player with a customer-service focus, dedicated to continuous learning and knowledge transfer.
